We offer workshops in the areas of “Scientist and human!” and “My research”. You can book our offers as a combination of topics or individually. We recommend the complete module especially of “Scientist and human!”, because the topics are
interrelated and combine into a whole learnabout.
Our workshops are structured into modules; you can combine elements or choose shorter units (lectures, seminars). Talk to us – we are happy to design a customized offer for you.
Scientist and Human
Who am I in science? Which chances have I got and where do I run the risk of not taking myself seriously as a human being?
When you start a scientific career, you usually don´t do this without a reason and a strong interest in the content. When you continue a scientific career, your reasons might have changed, and what has happened to this inner fire in the meanwhile?
In this area we ask for the compatibility of the scientist as a researcher and the scientist as a pawn of the scientific system. We uncover motivation which we thought was long-lost and learn strategies to keep it in the daily work.
Where do we actually take the energy from, to drive certain projects all till the end? And how do we stay inspired and motivated through this?
To set about your work with motivation is not a stroke of luck, but the result of many factors: for one, the biochemistry in our brains plays an important role, and yes, we can influence that without applying external substances. Furthermore the distinction between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is of relevance: one you can directly control, the other you cannot.
In this workshop you engage with theories about motivation, get to know your own points of motivation and take home tools for keeping up your motivation even after the course, so that you can pursue your life- and careerpath with inspiration.
What is success for you? And who defines if you are having it?
We deal with the definition of success: which universal criteria are there for success and how do your own ones fit in there? We dissect success stories of famous people and bring for example the “toadman” on stage in order to define the essential bricks for a successful professional career.
You work out your own definition of success and exchange opinions with others. You leave this module with concrete criteria for your own success and hopefully with the reassuring feeling to be on the right way.
In what ways can one fail in life and in one´s career? Have you failed already and what has happened afterwards?
In this module we exchange stories of failure, get to know ways of handling it well and explore what you have already learned from your experiences of failure.
You will learn that failing is no curse but a blessing and get to know strategies with which you can convince your environment to agree with that perspective.
Should I rather eat, or sleep, or continue with my PhD thesis? Which tasks should I prioritise now and for how long?
If you often have the feeling not to get everything done that is important and urgent, if you feel you are always running late but still never finishing, then this course is for you.
You will take home tools to put all the important things in you life into one bag and experience what a relaxed and efficient way of working can be like.
If you bring a concrete project you will put down the basics for it´s future time management!
